The Dilemma of Fact-Based Thinking: Challenging Accepted Beliefs

Why is it that declaring oneself a vegan or expressing a belief in God is more readily accepted, while declaring oneself a carnivore or nonbeliever requires caution?

This question has lingered in my mind, especially since I switched to a keto-carnivore diet. Despite presenting evidence from experts explaining the merits of this diet and showcasing studies that prove its healthiness, many people doubted my decision.

It became clear to me that discussing this nutrition with non-carnivores is similar to debating with someone who strongly believes in God's existence or explaining nutrition facts to vegans (and sometimes even vegetarians). Regardless of the logical arguments presented, a vegan (and a vegetarian) will firmly defend their theories and beliefs, often lacking scientific backing, just as a devout believer in God may stand firm in their faith.

Some believers will acknowledge that their belief is not based on objective evidence, but they will assert that a belief can still be true. Unfortunately, they have a point. This is because...

Belief Transcends into Truth

A fact is indisputable, grounded in empirical research and quantifiable measures. Facts surpass theories and are proven through calculation, experience, research, or definitive occurrences in the past. Facts represent objective evidence-backed reality.

On the other hand, truth is a separate and unique concept. It may incorporate facts, but it can also encompass beliefs. Most often, truth arises from beliefs that have transcended into facts.

My Commitment to Fact-Based Thinking

My decision to adopt animal-based nutrition makes me a carnivore. I arrived at this choice after conducting thorough research and uncovering FACTS about this dietary approach and the current dietary guidelines.

I have embraced fact-based thinking not only in nutrition but in every aspect of my life.

Going by facts is literally being truthful, and this embodies the essence of my existence. In my opinion, it should be the core essence of all individuals.

However, there are times when it feels like I'm being punished for adhering to facts alone, rather than conforming to the widely accepted truth...

And I wonder - why is it? Why is it that declaring a belief is more acceptable than declaring facts? Why is it that, even though we have advanced so much, we still cling to beliefs?

If anyone has an answer to that, I would love to hear it.
